How do you know if you are comparing apples to apples?
What do different diamond certifications mean?
At Hub Bros., our diamond graders have been certified by GIA (The Gemological Institution of America). We believe that GIA gives the most accurate diamond grade, and has the best interest of the consumer in mind. On the other hand, other certifications seem to have the interest of the retailer in mind, and can be several color and/or clarity grades off of GIA standards. This can result in a diamond being worth much less than originally thought. We know this when a customer brings in a recently purchased diamond along with its “certification.”
At Hub Bros. we have a number of diamonds that are GIA certified, and some that are not. For those that are not, we guarantee our certification to be as GIA would grade the diamond, or your money back. While comparing our diamonds to others, ask them if they will give you the same guarantee! We can also do an insurance appraisal with your purchase that will put in writing the grade of the diamond, as well as the Retail Replacement Value of the piece.
